ROLE
We are looking for a junior to join our Programming Department, and work towards becoming a highly skilled integrated-home programmer. As a member of the SMC team you will help to deliver cutting edge integrated-home technology in some of the most prestigious homes in London, and further afield. As part of SMC you will work alongside supportive and friendly colleagues including programmers, network engineers, installation engineers and security engineers.
You will need a technical background, ideally in AV, programming or digital electronics. You will need to have a logical and methodical approach to your work and be able to focus on detailed systems for long periods.
As a junior we will provide you with both in-house training and system-specific training from our suppliers. As your career progresses you will develop your skills, working towards the ability to deliver an integration control system from initial off-site programming through to full commissioning, testing and client handover. You will focus on Crestron programming, but will also become familiar with Lutron, KNX and Control4.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be part of the team responsible for the programming, commissioning, and testing of integration control systems in a variety of small, medium and large high-end residential properties. You will report to our Programming Manager who will provide guidance and support where needed, throughout each stage of a project.
As a Junior programmer you will be required to:
Assist with the programming, commissioning, testing and handover of integration control systems
Undertake in-house and supplier training to develop as an integration programmer
Work with our Design Department to create user interfaces
Work with our Aftercare Department providing support and maintenance for our existing installations.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should ideally have:
One of more of the following:
Training/experience in audio or video technology
Training/experience in programming (ideally C or similar text based language)
Training/experience in digital logic & electronics
A methodical and logical approach to work
The ability communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
An interest in audio visual technology
A keen desire to learn to program to a high level
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent timekeeping and work ethic
Advantageous but not essential:
A keen interest in and knowledge of Audio Visual technology
Knowledge of Crestron, KNX, Control4, Savant, AMX, Lutron and other integration control systems
Full and clean UK driving licence
C programming language
HTML5 programming
Basic electronics knowledge
Ability to terminate cable connectors through crimping and soldering
